Your Missionaries to Mongolia

"Hand in Hand - Serving Together"

Introduction:

Please allow me the opportunity to take a few minutes of your time and introduce ourselves.  I grew up in a Christian home.  I was saved when I was five years old and when I was eight I surrendered to full-time missions work.  Since that time, my life as been one of preparation to answer the burden that God had given me.  I entered Baptist Bible College (Springfield, Missouri) in the fall of 1992 in the missions program.  I graduated in the spring of 1996.  I met my wife in 1997 and Lydia and I were married in 1998.  Lydia is a MK (missionary’s kid).  She grew up in England ministering with her parents, Dwane and Janice Baker.  They are currently serving with the Baptist Bible Fellowship on the field of Haiti.  She is completing her college education through Louisiana Baptist University.  She was saved when she was five years old and surrendered to full – time missions work when she was ten.  In November of 1998, I became the Associate Pastor at Brooking Heights Baptist Church in Raytown, Missouri, under Pastor Stephen Jones.  God used this time mightily in our lives, but He never took away the call to full-time missions work.  In 2002, God moved in our lives and called us to the country of Mongolia.  God also gave us our first child, Eliza in January of 2002.  Esther Pearl, our second, was born on October 13, 2003.  Elijah Andrew was born on October 26, 2005. We are expecting our fourth child in February 2008.

Mongolia has a population of approximately 2.7 million people.  It is largely a nomadic country, although about half of the population live in urban areas.  The capital city, Ulan Bator, has over one million residents.  Mongolia was under the influence of communism during the time of the Soviet Union.  As a result, the people have been stripped of their national identity.  They have begun to bring back some of the old traditions, including Buddhism. The Mongolian people are looking for something to replace the effects of Communism on the individual.  Many are turning to Materialism. We know that only God can fill the hole the Mongolian’s feel.  Will you pray about how God can use you to take the HIS WORD to the people of Mongolia?

Testimonies:

Daniel's Testimony:

I grew up in a Christian home.  From my earliest days, I can remember my parents taking me to church.  I went to a Christian school for kindergarten when I was five years old.  On the bus one morning, I came under conviction.  I realized that I was a sinner and in need of a Saviour.  I prayed and asked God to save me.  That evening after telling my parents what happened, I spoke with our pastor.  I was baptized when I was eight years old.  God called me to full-time missionary service when I was eight years old under the ministry of Calvin Eastwood.  Since then, my life as been one of preparation for the missions field.  During high school I took classes that I thought would be a benefit to me as a missionary.  When it came time for college, the choice was easy.  I enrolled in Baptist Bible College, in Springfield, Missouri in the fall of 1992 in the missions program.  While I was in college, I was really challenged in my walk with God.  As a result, I rededicated my life to God my Junior year.  I graduated in BBC in the spring of 1996.  God led me to Lydia in the fall of 1997 and we were married on August 15, 1998.

Lydia's Testimony:

I grew up as a missionary kid in England.  On April Fool’s Day, it was no joke when I went to my dad and asked him how to be saved.  I was five years old.  I was baptized in Bury, England when I was nine.  At the age of ten, I knew that God was calling me into His service as a missionary.  I enrolled at Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, in the missions program planning on being a single missionary to China or Japan.  God had other ideas and I met my husband in 1997.  While we were fulfilling our internship, God burdened my heart for the land of Mongolia.
